A trip to DC for Barack and Michelle’s annual holiday party …
the white house hosts a few holiday receptions each year; this one being rather media heavy …. fellow guests included geena davis, justin long, octavia spencer, angela bassett, janelle monae, courtney b. vance……oh and lots of LGBT advocates. chaz bono was quite a hit….so many peeps wanted to talk to him and have pic taken with him……
about 200 of us queued outside for first of three security checks; the last being a fan assisted dog sniff…. then through the southeast entrance to peruse some portrait rooms, one of my faves of the flatware of some of the past residents…..
soooo many theme decorated live pine trees; you need a crew of 300 just to take care of these alone…
then upstairs to large dining area where lunch buffet was laid out; foods that could be consumed without the assistance of knives, btw…..and tons of yummy desserts and egg nog, of course.
we then awaited the arrival of the first couple; not sure if delay was due to the tragic events of the day (the sandy hook elementary school shooting in newtown, ct); but michelle and mr. o descended the stairs leading to their residence to give a short welcome / holiday greeting and then they stayed to shake hands with those who worked their way to the front of room…
alex (my husband) got a hand shake, lillian (my daughter) got a thank you for working on his campaign quarters last summer and I got a kiss…haha!
michelle looked stunning in a dark green frock that set off her flawless skin.
